PARAGRAPH MAKING

One easy way of developing a paragraph is by giving examples.  Example- By indicating specific examples, writers can use the example paper to demonstrate a general idea, and its primary purposes are to inform and to persuade.

Look at this example:
Dogs' nutrition are important for them to survive. For example,
puppies need three basic things in order to thrive: good nutrition, warmth, and companionship. Puppies need to eat three or four times a day from the time they are weaned until they are about six months old. Thereafter they can be fed twice a day until maturity and once daily after that. However, many dog owners, especially those with large breeds, feed twice a day throughout

Example Paragraph  Use the following to denote an example paragraph.
One example Another example The last example
The first example The second example The third example
First of all Secondly Finally
The first instance The second instanceThe third instance
For instance
Yet another example
The final example

ASSIGNMENT:  Make a 5 paragraph composition using examples. (Education of Children, Friendship, Helping People, College Education)

Process- In the process paper, the writer uses a sequential order of actions, steps or procedures to illustrate a particular end result. Although process is similar to narration in structure, it usually focuses on HOW an event occurs, rather than WHAT event occurs. Therefore, the primary purposes of the process paper is to inform, but can, in some instances, be used to persuade.

Example:

The process by which green plants and certain other organisms transform light energy into chemical energy. During photosynthesis in green plants, light energy is captured and used to convert water, carbon dioxide, and minerals into oxygen and energy-rich organic compounds.

ASSIGNMENT:  Make a 5 paragraph composition explaining how a particular process takes place. (Cleaning the house, Feeding a child, Cooking a dish, Preparing for a Trip)
